Interlocking Pavers FAQs

Have questions? This is a short list of our most frequently asked questions about pavers and our paving stone projects such as paver patios, driveways, walkways, and more. For more information, please call 877-728-3778.

  • Paving stones offer durability and lasting value that is far superior to concrete or asphalt. Designed to handle 8,000 pounds per square inch (PSI) versus 4,000 PSI for concrete, pavers won't crumble due to heavy use or climate conditions. Unlike concrete or asphalt, paving stones can adapt to shifting ground without cracking. This flexibility helps prevent damage to your driveway or other paving stone outdoor space after time.

  • We are a full-service outdoor living company that specializes in everything from design and installation to project management and beyond. Because we partner with leading paver manufacturers to ensure top-quality products that meet our high expectations, we do not offer pavers for sale for DIY projects or for use by outside contractors. Our pavers are covered by industry-leading warranties, including workmanship warranties that we can stand behind only when these products are installed by our expert crews.

If you need another great reason to give us a call for your remodeling needs, just remember....our 30+ years of experience goes a long way in delivering you a paving stone project that's built right, made to last, easy to maintain, and is covered by our warranties for ultimate peace of mind. Our professionals can save you a lot of time, hassle, and frustration by doing the job right, right from the start!

  • One of the best things about paving stones is the wide variety of shapes, colors, textures, and styles they come in. However, this also makes putting a price per square foot on them nearly impossible. The cost of your paving stones will depend on the style you pick, as well as the simplicity or complexity of your project.

Because we are a full-service design and installation company, paving stones are just one component of your overall project. Your design consultant can show you our full range of available pavers and the cost breakdown depending on which ones you select.

Don't forget! A design consultation is a completely free, no-obligation visit where we can give you a comprehensive design and accurate price estimate for pavers and more. Schedule yours today to learn more about paving stone costs, as well as what to expect for your entire outdoor remodel.

  • Typically, no. Interlocking pavers should not be installed over existing concrete as this does not constitute a proper foundation for your paver project. In a few select instances, interlocking pavers for walkway projects or smaller areas may be able to be installed over existing surfaces, but an expert would need to assess the feasibility of that.

However, for larger projects like driveway pavers or pool deck pavers, we always require removing the old concrete before installing interlocking outdoor pavers. This allows for better control over drainage, proper grading, and increases the overall quality and durability of the installation.

During your free consultation, we'll assess your existing surface to see which approach is best for your space.

  • When installed correctly, interlocking pavers can last decades with minimal maintenance. The individual pavers themselves are incredibly durable and resistant to cracking, fading, and weathering. Unlike poured concrete that can crack and deteriorate over time, interlocking stone pavers maintain their beauty and structural integrity year after year.

We back this in confidence with a 25-year limited workmanship warranty on paver installations. If the workmanship fails to meet our installation quality specifications within that timeframe, we'll repair or replace the products at our own expense.

  • Absolutely. One of the biggest advantages of interlocking outdoor pavers is how simple they are to keep looking great. Regular sweeping and occasional rinsing with a garden hose are usually all you need for routine maintenance.

For stains, a mild soap and scrub brush will do the trick. We also recommend resealing your pavers every few years to protect them from stains and keep colors vibrant. The beauty of interlocking patio pavers is that if one ever gets damaged or stained beyond repair, it can easily be removed and replaced. Instead of patching concrete or re-doing an entire surface, just that individual paver can be replaced without disturbing the rest of your installation.

  • Paving stones are one of the more environmentally responsible choices for outdoor hardscaping. They allow water to permeate through the joints and return to the groundwater table, unlike solid concrete surfaces that create runoff. This permeability helps reduce strain on storm drains and prevents erosion.

Many of our interlocking pavers are made from materials that can be repurposed at the end of their long lifespan. Plus, because they last so much longer than other materials, you won't need to replace them frequently, which reduces waste over time.

If sustainability is important to you, pavers offer a beautiful solution that's better for the environment while still delivering the durability and performance your outdoor space needs.

  • The design possibilities with interlocking pavers are practically endless. You can choose from a variety of colors, shapes, and patterns to create a look that's uniquely yours.

Want a classic herringbone pattern for your driveway? Or maybe a circular design for your patio? We can do that. Prefer mixing colors for a custom mosaic effect? No problem. Walkway pavers and more can feature intricate borders and inlays that add personality to your landscape.

During your free design consultation, our team will show you samples and help you visualize different combinations. We'll consider your home's architecture, your personal style, and how you plan to use the space.

Don't forget to explore complementary features like decking, water features, outdoor kitchens, and fire pits to complete your outdoor living area.

  • Yes, and we highly encourage it! Integrating outdoor lighting and landscaping with your paver installation creates a cohesive outdoor space that's both functional and beautiful. Landscape lighting can highlight architectural features and illuminate walkways for safety.

Additionally, landscaping features like planted borders, retaining walls, and garden beds pair perfectly with interlocking pavers for walkway and patio projects. Many homeowners also love adding features for backyard entertaining, such as outdoor kitchens, seating walls, and fire features.

  • Interlocking pavers are an excellent choice for families with children and pets. The textured surface provides good traction, even when wet. Unlike concrete, pavers don't get as hot in direct sunlight, so they're more comfortable for bare feet and pet paws during the summer months.

If you're planning a space where kids and pets will spend time, interlocking patio pavers offer peace of mind along with lasting beauty. Many of our clients tell us their new paver patios quickly become the favorite gathering spot for the whole family.

  • Yes, and this is one of the key advantages of choosing interlocking pavers over poured concrete. If a single paver gets cracked, stained, or damaged, just that one piece can be removed and replaced without affecting the surrounding pavers.

With our comprehensive and fast pavers installation process and high-quality materials, damaged pavers are rare. However, if anything does happen, repairs are straightforward. This repairability makes interlocking pavers a smart long-term investment.
